The Faroese Sustainable Business Initiative and Environment Agency launch business tool

The twelve members of Burðardygt Vinnulív and Umhvørvisstovan (the Faroese Environment Agency) have today launched a free-to-use GHG reporting tool, to make it easier for businesses in the Faroe Islands to measure their CO2 footprint.

The tool, together with an ESG reporting guide (launched by the network in Faroese in January), will also support businesses in reporting their GHG emissions, which is hoped will activate them to follow recommendations from scientists to set targets to halve CO2 emissions by 2030.

Sigurð í Jákupsstovu, Director of Umhvørvisstovan said: “We are very pleased to be working with Burðardygt Vinnulív on a project that will encourage the business community to take responsibility for their impacts on the environment. From today, Umhvørvisstovan will be taking ownership of this tool, which we will update on an annual basis and make available to all organisations, for free.”

Jan Ziskasen, the new Chairman of Burðardygt Vinnulív said: “Working in collaboration with Umhvørvisstovan on this tool is one way for our network to fulfil its purpose, which is to promote system change for a green transition in the Faroe Islands.”

The tool can be accessed on the Umhvørvisstovan website.

The twelve founding companies of the business network are Bakkafrost, Betri Banki, Effo, Faroe Ship, Føroya Tele (Faroese Telecom), Gist og Vist, JT electric, KJ Hydraulik, MBM, P/F Poul Michelsen, SMJ and Vónin.
